The VOICE UP Pop-up Choir is a series of stand-alone, inspiring pop choir sessions at Cultuurhuis De Paulus, led by Natalie Lukkenaer.
Each evening we work on one pop song, learning it in simple harmonies. At Voice Up, we create a safe and relaxed atmosphere. It’s not about perfection, it’s about joy, connection, and letting your voice be heard. No singing experience is required; curiosity is enough. Everyone is welcome.

F.A.Q.
I’m not sure if I can sing in tune. Is that a problem?
It doesn’t matter if you can sing perfectly in tune or not. When people sing together in a group, most are naturally able to follow the pitch of the people around them. You are very welcome to join!
Singing in a choir sounds really scary… but secretly also really fun. What should I do?
A lot of people feel nervous about singing! In the Voice Up choir, we sing all together at the same time. The focus is on everyone feeling comfortable, free, and able to express themselves. So if you enjoy singing along to your favorite pop songs in the shower, you’re absolutely welcome at Voice Up.
I don’t know if I’m a soprano (high), alto (middle), or tenor/bass (low). What now?
Your vocal range (how high or low you can sing) isn’t fixed. With one song you might enjoy singing the higher notes, while with another you may prefer the lower ones. It can also depend on the day and how you’re feeling! At Voice Up, I make sure you can sing with the group of your choice—and that may be high, middle, or low at different moments.
I’d love to join, but I can’t read sheet music.
In the Voice Up choir, you’ll receive the lyrics and we learn the melody by ear. You don’t need to be able to read music to participate.

Natalie is an insightful, experienced and kind coach. Her vocal knowledge and technique is extensive. My vocal capacity and awareness of various techniques has grown significantly. I appreciate her passion for her students well-being too. Her application of her life coaching skills are felt during our sessions. She enables me to ground myself during the sessions and explore my emotional experiences safely.
Het was magisch om met zoveel mensen in zo'n korte tijd een mooie klank te krijgen. Natalie doet het op zo'n fijne en ontspannen manier dat iedereen er plezier in heeft!
I attended the first edition of Voice Up on March 13 with a couple of girlfriends, and it was truly a memorable experience. The event was beautifully hosted by the incredibly warm and enthusiastic Natalie Lukkenaer, whose energy set the tone for the entire evening.
One of my friends had never sung in a choir before, and as a professional musician myself, I deeply value opportunities that invite everyone to experience the power of making music together. Voice Up did exactly that—creating a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone could participate and connect through singing.
The venue, Pauluskerk in Oegstgeest, added an extra layer of magic with its stunning atmosphere. It was especially heartwarming to see mothers sharing the experience with their children, and I would love to see even more male voices join in future editions to enrich the collective sound.
A heartfelt thank you to Natalie for inspiring us and creating such a joyful and uplifting experience. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
